The Little Girl Who Cried “Ouch”
Delaney and Allie were playing a neat game in which they pull each other’s hair. (geniuses) Allie pulled Delaney’s hair so hard that she pulled her right out of her chair and Delaney landed on her elbow on our stone kitchen floor.
Now, Delaney could turn a hang nail into an ER event, so we’re just giving her pain meds for now. I think she’s fine but she is MAD at me for not believing that she’s about to DIE from the pain.
Here’s a note she wrote to me:
“HI! Mom and dad. It rele duss hrte. i am sad that you gisse don’t undrstad. love Delaney”
This is a kid who had us CONVINCED that her leg was broken once. We took her in, got the x-rays, and discovered nothing was wrong. She walked NORMALLY out of the doctor’s office. I could tell you five more stories like this. You’ve heard of the little boy who cried wolf. She is the little girl who cried “ouch!”
So, we will wait and watch…

I am the writer/owner of ‘MA! motherhood with attitude.’ The artist/owner of our company, Tiffany, will add her two cents on this blog now and then, as well. Tiffany and I often talk about the struggle to earn a buck through our freelancing as we also try to make the ‘MA! dream’ come true. Our mission is to expose ‘perfect parenting propaganda’ for what it is: hogwash! We adore imperfect parents (and embrace the fact that we are among them.)
Mallori is my little drama queen! We all have one! Kiss her hurts and she will get better!!!

My kids have a high tolerance for pain. When my youngest son was 18 months old he jumped from the top of his brothers bunk bed and landed wrong. He didn’t cry or fuss. The following day he decided he was a cat and crawled around on his hands and knees, meowing. He seemed happy enough but a week later I tried to get him to stand up and when I placed him on his feet, he fell to the ground crying in pain. A quick trip to the emergency room brought the discovery that he had broken his foot. My son had suffered a broken foot for a week before he was treated, I felt horrible! He’s no better now days, if he is sick I never know until he is really really sick. The others are the same way.
